Routes 3 & 25 Corridor Transportation Improvements Study - Meredith
Meredith, NH | NHDOT
Received ACEC-NH's 2010 Engineering Excellence Overall Winner Award.
The planning phase of this project studied a range of alternatives to relieve the congestion that exists along Routes 3 and 25 in Meredith. The effort involved community planning and public involvement consistent with context sensitive solutions (CSS) principles. These principles emphasize a collaborative approach to transportation planning that balances the transportation needs with community development, land use planning, environmental resources, stakeholder concerns, and funding choices. MJ directed a dynamic and comprehensive public participation program. This program included an advisory committee made up of community leaders, town staff and private citizens, along with project staff. The project will be used by the State of New Hampshire as a pilot project for the application of CSS in transportation planning. The project also included assessment of capacity, safety, and operational challenges within the study limits.
